massimo vignelli designed an iconic subway map for the nyc metro in 1972.  due to a few operational glitches in the design (central park was drawn as a square, for example), the map was overhauled shortly thereafter, though aficionados of his version have long revered the elegant use of color and angle.  men’s vogue is now selling 500 exclusive vignelli maps, updated to reflect the current system.  get ‘em while you can!
