the age of design

judge a book by its cover

first of all, arranging books by color on bookshelves is silly.  when was the last time you wanted to read something “persimmon”?  there is something to be said, however, for a pleasing cover design.

just ask:

Murakami Wind-Up Bird Chronicles  Antrim The Verificationist

john gall at vintage and anchor books

Martin Amis House of Meetings  Phaidon Doug Aitken

chip kidd                            phaidon

Oh the Glory of It All  Saint, Bishop of Hippo Augusti

penguin press

or even miranda july (who advises that you match your book to that day’s outfit).
