I left for college in 1971 with two suitcases full of very select items to last me the entire 9 months away from home. One of my must-haves was a typewriter and I had been delighted to find an adorable portable very much like the CH’s valentine portable typerwriter. Unfortunately the color was teal, but the machine held me in good stead for the 4 years and on through graduate school. An unexpected benefit of this mechanical marvel was the finger strength I developed on the keys which required more muscle than carrying the typewriter itself. Thank goodness for the advent of home computing!
